NURSING ALUM FEATURED IN ST. PETE TIMES "RISING STAR"
Nicole Barber, a USF Nursing B.S. alum and nursing team leader at University Community Hospital in Carrollwood, was featured May 13, 2009 in the St. Petersburg Times’ “Rising Star” column. The article talks about her seven-year career at UCH, which began through the College’s Clinical Collaborative, including Barber’s recent recognition as “RN of the Year” for Carrolwood. When asked “Why nursing” she responded, “I am a nurse because I truly enjoy helping others. I think when a patient become sick unexpectedly or is hospitalized they become vulnerable to a very complicated medical world. The nurse becomes their liaison and advocate and can help the patient better understand their illness and plan of care.”
