STUDENT CLASS NOTES
- USF Nurse Anesthesia masters students, Deborah Perry and Holly Wood met with legislators in Tallahassee on March 24th, joining other CRNAs and student nurse anesthetists who also journeyed to the State Capitol to meet with state senators and representatives and discuss key health care issues that impact CRNA practice and safe patient care. The College is very proud of the extra efforts they are making to represent USF.
- Family nurse practitioner masters student, Lisa Stone Spiegel, RN, BSN, received a Nurse Practitioner Healthcare Foundation (NPHF) community health award for her work with the Boys and Girls' club, which is among her many volunteer services. Her career as an RN has included the areas of hospice care, home health care, pediatrics, geriatrics and state health department. She currently works in home health care. The NPHF/Alpharma Pain Management Award will be used to identify barriers and promote effective pain management in non-English speaking patients and to provide health care providers sound information to help provide effective pain management for this population.
- Nursing PhD student Teresa Russo, was notified Monday, May 18th that she will receive a research grant award from Sigma Theta Tau, Delta Beta Chapter-at-Large. Teresa recently submitted her application for the award via Sponsored Research and her mentor is Dr. Susan McMillan. Congratulations!
